Kimberley could soon face water restrictions. Efforts to keep reservoirs at acceptable levels have failed. The Sol Plaatje Municipality says restrictions will be imposed if the combined levels of its reservoirs falls below 100 million litres of water for a week. The reservoirs hold 261 million litres. Kimberley has had major water problems for years, with major upgrades being done to the city’s infrastructure in the last few years.
