NAMPO 2012 Show stopper

Mercedes-Benz showcased a number of its exciting, environmentally friendly products at the annual the 2012 NAMPO Harvest Day in Bothaville, Free State. Themed “Conserve tomorrow, act today”, the annual exhibition held in the heart of South Africa’s maize belt attracted exhibitors, agriculturists and farmers who are serious about conservation, and the future. With a proud heritage spanning more than forty years, a record of over 73 000 visitors through the gates in 2011 and a combined display of local and international exhibitors this year account for more than 670 static and mechanization exhibitor stands, together with the all-important livestock section.

The real show-stopper at NAMPO is the legendary UNIMOG U 5000, which will enthral show-goers of all ages. For over 60 years the UNIMOG has been setting standards with its economic efficiency and unique vehicle concept. With its unique flexible chassis design, which is at the heart of the uncompromising all-terrain capabilities of the UNIMOG, traversing difficult terrain is effortless. This ‘go-anywhere’ UNIMOG will have farmers and entrepreneurs wanting to go places where no other vehicle can take them.

The Mercedes-Benz Unimog is a vehicle in a league of its own: A work and tractor vehicle in one. Due to its short chassis, it is able to make the optimal use of the maximum transport length of 18,75 m (61.5 ft.) allowed in the EU – either with several axles or even with two trailers. Front and rear-mounted implements can also be attached and removed very quickly so that the Unimog is always ready and waiting for a whole range of jobs that may need doing.
