WISA CPD Courses

Water Governance – August

Water governance refers to the political, social, economic, legislative and administrative systems in place that influence the use and management of water. The course addresses the international context of water governance and explores the South African legislation and institutional arrangements for the governance of water, including aspects such as water use license application (WULA) processes, and the preparation of integrated water and waste management plans (IWWMPs). An assessment will be conducted of the delegates’ level of learning during the course, and a certificate of attendance will be awarded to successful learners upon conclusion of the course, which can be used to claim 3 CPD points from WISA, SACNASP and ECSA.

Advanced Water Treatment: Secondary Processes

Many of the process controllers who are involved in wastewater treatment are quite proficient in their understanding of the processes being applied during treatment, but need some assistance when it comes to the calculations required to optimise these processes. This course focuses on those calculations as they apply to the ‘secondary treatment processes’, especially activated sludge. The course is intended to be an interactive training event where the calculations will be unpacked, practiced and then interpreted in practical on-site situations.

Introduction to Water & Wastewater Treatment

Sustainable access to a safe source of water is not only a basic human right, but also a key driver in ensuring the social, environmental, and economic sustainability of a community. This course focuses on the principles behind water and wastewater treatment and will provide delegates who typically do not deal with the intimate details of these processes on a day-to-day basis with a better understanding of how these plants function.
