Ben Martins announced as new Minister of Transport in surprise cabinet reshuffle

President Jacob Zuma announced a reshuffle of his cabinet yesterday during a special briefing at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Sibusiso Ndebele, formerly the Minister of Transport, has taken up her position as correctional services minister. This is apparently punishment for his role in the botched Gauteng e-toll project. His deputy, Jeremy Cronin, has also been replaced.

Public Enterprises Deputy Minister Ben Martins will replace Ndebele as minister of transport. His new Deputy Minister of Transport is Sindisiwe Chikunga.
