1Time flight ‘had engine failure’ | Infrastructure news

A 1Time aircraft that made an emergency landing at Durban’s King Shaka International Airport had engine failure, the SA Civil Aviation Authority said on Monday.

“Preliminary investigations show that its left engine failed,” spokesperson Phindiwe Gwebu said.

The plane, which had been going to Cape Town, was forced to turn back minutes after take off.

The runway at the airport was closed from 17:00 on Sunday for the emergency landing.

Gwebu said debris fell out of the left engine. Investigations were continuing.

According to 1Time CEO, Blacky Komani, “The airline is in the process of putting out a press release.”

No information has been received as yet.
