Cape Town trains delayed as a result of bomb scare | Infrastructure news

Cape Town – Trains in Cape Town were delayed on Monday morning after a tip off was received, warning of a bomb threat at Maitland station.

According to Regional manager Mthuthuzeli Swart, the tip off was received at around 6 am and he then proceeded to clear the station so that police could carry out an inspection.

Nothing was discovered by the explosives experts and regular rail services resumed at 7:15 am.

“We condemn the action in the strongest possible terms… these individuals thrive on causing chaos and must be stopped immediately,” Swartz said.

Any information leading to the conviction of a hoax caller can see the person who provided the information receive a R25 000 reward.
