Ngululu Bulk Carriers this week received the final order of its 80 Mercedes-Benz trucks from Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) during a handover in Pretoria. The deal worth R160 million was financed through MBSA Finance and also includes a maintenance package where MBSA-trained mechanics will ensure the smooth running of the fleet during its lifespan.
Chris Luvhani, Ngululu executive chairman, says: “This is a proud day for the company, because the addition of the Mercedes-Benz trucks to our fleetwill make our operations even more efficient.” Ngululu Bulk Carriers operates a tipper fleet transporting coal, platinum and nickel concentrate, as well as chrome ore. In 2008, the transport company bought 10 Mercedes-Benz trucks and in 2009 increased the fleet with a further 50 tipper trucks from MBSA. Following the latest acquisition, the operator has 130 MBSA trucks in its fleet of 262 vehicles.
