Transport minister sends condolences | Infrastructure news

The Transport Minister, Dipuo Peters has expressed shock and sadness following the death of Gauteng MEC for Economic Development, Nkosiphendule Kolisile and his two protectors during a tragic crash on Saturday 20 July.

Preliminary reports indicate that an SUV and a truck collided head on resulting in the death of MEC Kolosile and his two protectors.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened with the South African Police Service.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has dispatched a team of crash and incident reconstruction and investigation experts to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Peters said, “The death of MEC Kolisile and his protectors is yet another stark reminder of the challenges we continue to face on our roads.  We repeat our call on all South Africans to work together in stopping the road carnage.”
