Building commences at Serco’s new Gauteng facility | Infrastructure news

Trailer designer and manufacturer Serco, in order to ensure its future growth capabilities is currently expanding operations in Boksburg.

Graders have cleared the new 13,4ha site and the installation of municipal services are almost complete with upgrades to electrical, water and sewer capacity being undertaken to accommodate the expansion.  Concrete has been thrown for Phase 1 of the new development.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year and will include twelve under cover bays (1745m2) for repair services and a further 3480m2 for new body manufacturing, which is double the size of the company’s facility in Jetpark.

The Jetpark operation has been stretched to capacity and the additional space will facilitate room for growth and is expected to be ready for business early in 2014.
