Mather+Platt has won exclusive distribution rights to the Vanton range of thermoplastic pumps. An agreement signed in August makes the Wadeville-based company the sole distributor of all Vanton products, including Flexiliner seal-less peristaltic pumps, Chem-Gard horizontal centrifugal pumps and Sump-Gard vertical centrifugal pumps.
Flex-Plug valves and Gage-Gard instrument protectors and systems are also included. Prior to the agreement, Mather+Platt was one of several companies selling products from USA-based Vanton into the South African market. Vanton pumps have a reputation for durability because of their non-metallic wet ends, which are made of corrosion and abrasion resistant engineered plastics that are inert and impervious to acids, caustics, salts, solvents, chlorides, halogens and other aggressive chemicals that can attack pumps made of metals, plastic or rubber-lined metals, and fibreglass reinforced plastics. Each plastic component is a solid, thick-sectioned, standalone part that is easily replaced, allowing the pumps to deliver long, trouble-free service lives while preventing the contamination of reagent-grade chemicals and other fluids characterised by high levels of purity. Applications include liquid transfer, neutralisation, disinfection, dosing, effluent collection, lift station, odour control and recirculation.Mather+Platt has been supplying pumps to South African farms, mines and factories for 60 years.
In August 2012, the company was bought by leading Indian pump manufacture WPIL, since when it has embarked on a programme of factory upgrades and market consolidation. More recently, Mather+Platt has begun to aggressively expand market share, the Vanton agreement being the latest progression in that drive.
