Aurecon South Africa (Pty) Ltd has been adjudicated as the Number One Company in South Africa in the Engineering Groups Sector for the seventh consecutive year, according to a recent ranking by the Top 500: South Africa’s Best Managed Companies publication.

Published by Topco Media, the publication is a respected industry authority which ranks business in South Africa on the basis of a critical set of performance criteria. With a goal of profiling leading businesses in terms of both global and South African best practice standards, the publication identifies businesses which excel in their specific sectors and in addition, have a strong set of social, empowerment and development policies in place.

This year’s ranking saw Topco Media review thousands of companies against an extensive set of criteria related to three key areas of business:

• Accreditations and written company policies, incorporating ISO accreditations, industry related accreditations, written policies for HIV/Aids, environmental and other governance related issues. Financial performance, including factors such as turnover, growth, profitability and productivity.
• Financial performance, including factors such as turnover, growth, profitability and productivity.
• People development and human resources, incorporating BBBEE ownership and equity, employment equity, skills development and gender empowerment.
