SARS will discontinue the issuance of CN1 forms at Beitbridge as of Saturday, 7 December 2013. In the absence of the CN1, Clearing Agents, Importers and Exporters will still continue to receive the relevant electronic (EDI) customs status messages as per the usual process.
Note that this arrangement will not impact on the issuance of CN2 forms. SARS will continue to process these in respect of conveyances approved for movement through South African land borders. For purposes of acquittal or proof of export, acquittal of an export movement is performed on the exit scan on Service Manager by SARS. In regard to the export of bonded goods (including excise goods), endorsed SAD 502/SAD505 and DA 187 forms are still required to facilitate cross-border movement.
