A water resource website is coming soon | Infrastructure news

Decision-makers should have access to the country’s first publicly-accessible, web-based, interactive reporting system that will continually quantify the surface and groundwater resources of South Africa by the end of the year.

The website is part the Water Research Commission’s (WRC) 2012 study. The study hopes to be the most accurate national water resource assessment of South Africa.  It aims to assist decision-makers at all levels of government to make informed choices about policies concerning South Africa’s water resources.

The website was originally only planned to be up and running once the project was completed in 2016, however, WRC Research Manager Wandile Nomquphu says the commission has decided to bring the date forward because of the high level of interest.

The study is being carried out by a group of consulting engineering firms led by Royal Haskoning DHV.
