Promethium Carbon receives award | Infrastructure news

Promethium Carbon has received an award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to Africa’s economic growth and development evidenced by the number of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) methodologies and projects in South Africa, Namibia and Kenya it has registered with the United Nations.

The Star Excellence Award was presented at the Africa – Middle East Energy Outlook Forum & Awards Ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel in Abu Dhabi, during the World Future Energy Summit (WFES 2014).

“In total, Promethium has registered over 15 carbon credit projects in Africa, from a wide variety of renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste-to-energy and fuel-switch projects,” said HJ Swanepoel, a director of Promethium Carbon.

“Africa is being identified as the focal point of future energy generation. Leaders from three African countries, Ethiopia, Senegal and Sierra Leone, discussed the vast opportunities that the African market has to offer during the opening ceremony of the WFES 2014,” he said.

“The presidents of all three countries agreed that Africa offers significant potential for investing in renewable energy projects,” he said. “The energy mix of different types of renewables can offer electricity to many people who do not have power today, and can avoid the dependency on only one type of energy source.”
