The African Union is happy with China’s involvement in Africa | Infrastructure news

African Union (AU) Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy Elham Mahmoud Ibrahim is appreciative of the infrastructure developments China is carrying out in Africa.

“The cooperation between China and Africa is very clear in the area of infrastructure. You can find projects, you can say even in every country, they are doing a lot, in roads, in railways, in airports, stadiums and so many activities; it is a reality and I think it is very recognizable. And it is something appreciated,” says Ibrahim.

Ibrahim says that China is implementing projects at national levels which contribute towards the implementation of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA). By implementing projects at national levels, China is implementing regional and continental projects.

African leaders from 54 countries recently identified well-functioning infrastructure as critical for Africa to achieve its full potential in terms of economic growth. They met at the AU Summit in Ethiopian to discuss challenges facing the continent as well as what can be done to achieve the goal of turning Africa into the world’s 3rd largest economy in the coming years.
