UN-Water gets a new vice-chairperson | Infrastructure news

Blanca Jimenez-Cisneros has taken over from Bert Diphoorn as UN-Water’s vice-chairperson.

Jimenez-Cisneros, who previously represented UNESCO, says she hopes to maintain and build on the good work done in the past years. “I also think that rotation is important for any organization. You get new ideas in ‒ which I hope to bring to UN-Water,” she says.

Diphoorn says UN-Water is about collaboration and he thinks the organisation is on the right track. He also predicts a growth in the partnership base with more synergy between members and partners.

“UN-Water enables the UN system to speak with one voice on water-related issues.  It eliminates contradictory messages and gives a unified image. I very much see UN-Water evolve in this way: delivering as one,” says Jimenez-Cisneros

Diphoorn has gone back to represent UN-HABITAT as a Senior Program Manager for UN-Water.
