Rain damage affects trucks on the Great North Road | Infrastructure news

The Zambian Road Development Agency (RDA) and the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) have joined forces to repair a section of the Great North Road that was damaged by heavy rainfall.

The damage on the road which is approximately six kilometres from Nakonde in Muchinga Province did cause trucks to be backed up until remedial work was done enabling trucks, buses and lighter vehicles from Lusaka proceeding to Nakonde to pass at the affected section.

Officers from the Rural Roads Unit, RDA Muchinga Province and casual workers had been mobilised to conduct the repair works, while DMMU had also dispatched a team of experts from the Zambia Army to assist.

Rain has however caused further delays to repairing the road properly.
