Tobela Tapula: Corporate and Government Affairs Manager

Plastics|SA is proud to welcome Tobela Tapula as our new Manager: Corporate and Government Affairs, with effect from the 1st of March 2014. Although this is a National position, Tobela will be based full-time at the Midrand offices in Johannesburg.

Education and Training
Tobela grew up in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape. He completed a degree in Criminology from University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), an Honours degree in Economic History and is currently busy with a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration (MPA).

Career Highlights
Tobela is familiar with government and parliamentary liaison and has travelled extensively doing research on governance in Africa.

Goals for the Industry
As part of the Plastics|SA team, Tobela says he hopes to formulate innovative ways of engaging the private sector, academia andgovernment in order to stimulate growth in the plastics industry.

PERSONAL
Marriage, cycling and travelling keep him busy in his spare time and he has a special interest in using his many skills to empower others.

When asked who his heroes are, Tobela doesn’t hesitate to mention his parents who have taught him the fundamental principles of a successful life. “I am also inspired by role models in the political, social and business sectors,” Tobela says.
