Railway tenders to Zambian locals | Infrastructure news

Zambia Railways has awarded tenders to 32 local companies to begin rehabilitation works on its network as the Zambian Government revives its rail system.

This is largely due to increased mining activities on the Copperbelt and more so in the North-Western Province in Zambia, as traffic has more than tripled on the road networks in the area.

As a result of this scenario, Government has been compelled to invest huge amounts of money on constant repair of roads due to the heavy traffic.

When the railway system is back in full operation it is envisaged that  most of the heavy goods will be transported via Zambia Railways.
