There’s still enough space for the use of coal in the production of power. Geoff Morrison of International Energy Association’s Clean Coal Centre says renewables are often expensive and unreliable compared to coal. South Africa currently uses about 70 percent of coal to produce electricity but wants to move away from coal to renewables. Morrison says there’s enough room for coal use
