Water intervention project to be launched | Infrastructure news

Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, the Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, will officially open the water intervention project today.

During the year 2012, Chief Mamu Nolusapho Mgwebi wrote to the Deputy Minister reporting that her administrative area composed of four villages (Mente, Mhlahlane, Mamfeneni and Nkonkwane) had no access to water and that they are solely dependent on a hand pump which is not reliable. The Deputy Minister’s intervention included fixing of a borehole, 43 JoJo tanks for water harvesting and reticulating water from the borehole to standpipes bringing water closer to the people.

Hence, the Deputy Minister’s visit to Mhlahlane village to officially switch on the water from the standpipes envisaged to deliver water to 343 people living in 69 households.  A total of 6 locals were employed during the implementation of the R400 000 water intervention project.
