Kaytech continues its partnership with PETCO | Infrastructure news

Having begun their partnership in 2011, Kaytech is pleased to announce they have entrenched their relationship again with PETCO as a Category A partner, increasing the economically viable collection and recycling of post-consumer PET in South Africa.

For over 40 years Kaytech has been supplying the civil engineering industry with bidim, its nonwoven continuous filament needle-punched polyester geotextile. This unique product is manufactured according to internationally renowned technology. As bidim has 100% recycled polyester content, use of the geotextile in a multitude of projects results in a significant amount of post-consumer beverage bottles not reaching landfill. Bidim is directly manufactured from pellets, produced from recycled PET bottles, supplied to Kaytech.

Cheri Scholtz, CEO of PETCO says, “Kaytech continues to provide innovative, engineering solutions using recycled PET (rPET) in their products. By doing so they support the recycling sector by assuring an end use market for rPET in South Africa. We appreciate Kaytech’s ongoing support and their pioneering approach to developing their product range further – using rPET as a vital technical nutrient in their product and showing that plastic bottles are not trash”.

Other products Kaytech manufactured from rPET are: Rockgrid PC for reinforcement of walls and slopes and for capping landfills; Sealmac and Sealgrid for rehabilitation of road surfaces; and EnviroRock 3PL for erosion control on beaches. Since 2011, Kaytech has recycled 7,800 tons of rPET in the manufacture of their geosynthetic products. Kaytech is proud to be contributing to the sustainability of South Africa’s industrial sector by incorporating the use of rPET in their products and new product innovations. Kaytech’s new brand slogan: People, Planet, Progress adds credence to this commitment.
