A coastal railway line stretching 1 385 kilometres in Nigeria is to be built by the China Railway Construction Corporation Limited at a cost of US$ 13.1 billion.

It will cross ten states in the country in one-way mileage and will be designed to accommodate speeds of 120km/h. At the same time 22 railways stations will also be constructed along the line.

The next step is for the Nigerian Ministry of Transport and the China Civil Engineering Group Company to discuss the details of the project based on the framework of the project.

Nigeria is one of China’s major trading partners in Africa, with trade between the two countries last year approximately worth $30.6 billion.
