Nigeria will receive assistance from Japan with waste management and renewable energy.

Speaking in Abuja, Japanese foreign minister on environment Hideki Makihara said that Japan has observed Africa’s poor waste management system. The Daily Trust reported Makihara saying that, with Japan’s improved technology and experience, the country can now give assistance to Nigeria.

“We have the tools to assist Nigeria in the area of low carbon technology to reduce green house emission, and we are looking forward to sharing action, technology and experience as well as the future together,” he said.

According to the Daily Trust, Makihara advised Nigeria to explore natural gas power infrastructure as well as noted the efficiency of nuclear power. However the foreign minister pointed out his dismay that the world has not been able to agree on the disposal of the waste generated by nuclear power.
