Ebola bodies banned from being trucked | Infrastructure news

The Nigerian Federal Government has banned the transportation of corpses from the three West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone where cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) are rampant.

At the same time, the Lagos State Government is urging the federal government to consider closing some of the country’s borders as part of the preventive measures fight the virus.

Babatunde Fashola, Lagos State Governor, says, “The virus is no longer a local, but an international problem. This is because it is easily transmittable across borders.”

“What the federal government need to do is consider closing some of our borders.

“What happens going forward depends on how professionally our borders’ officials act, because they are the first line of defence in ensuring contaminated corpses are not brought into Nigeria.”
