Standard Bank secures Govan Mbeki Municipality contract | Infrastructure news

Standard Bank has officially been elected as the preferred bank for the Govan Mbeki Municipality. The appointment was confirmed during the signing of a Service Level Agreement on Friday, 31 October 2014 at Dros Secunda, Mpumalanga.

The Banking Services Agreement, effective from 1 July 2014 for a period of five years, was duly authorised by Executive Mayor, Cllr. Lindi Masina and Julian Felix, Head of Business Banking, Mpumalanga at Standard Bank.

Bongi Kunene, Head of Public Sector Banking at Standard Bank says the Govan Mbeki Municipality’s decision to partner with Standard Bank is a clear recognition of our capabilities and the value proposition that we offer clients. Our strategy is continually refined to stay relevant to the needs of government in serving South Africans more effectively.

“We are committed to providing the Govan Mbeki Municipality with excellent service at all times as we aim to work as a public sector partner, so that we become solution-providing bankers to government institutions. The most important element of Standard Bank’s vision is to make a real difference to financial services wherever we operate.”

Standard Bank has been providing banking services to the community in the Govan Mbeki Municipality since 1976. “We hope to play an important part in helping the Govan Mbeki Municipality to fulfil its challenging mandate of delivering services to the community.”

“We were also one of the first banks in South Africa to partner with local retailers, operating in rural communities, local townships and urban areas. Standard Bank is a responsible corporate citizen and we ensure meaningful delivery against social requirements by focusing on core areas: education, enterprise development, health and wellness and employee community involvement,” concludes Ms Kunene.

Standard Bank was successfully awarded the tender on 07 April 2014, taking over the relationship from ABSA.
