Weak kwacha affects Zambian importers | Infrastructure news

According to a report by Zambian daily newspaper, The Post, the weakening of Zambia’s local currency against major global currencies has increased the price of importing goods and as a result, has affected local business.

It was reported that business owners who imported goods from South Africa, retailers and cross-border traders were some of those affected negatively by the weaker kwacha.

Donald Kachingwe, chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Traders Trust chairperson, called for more government intervention to prop up the local currency.
