Tau Morwe, Chief Executive (CE) for the Transnet National Ports Authority will leave the company at the end of April following his resignation.
Tau joined Transnet in 1997 and served as CE of three divisions: National Ports Authority, Freight Rail and Port Terminals. Transnet said in a statement that Tau was a “driven and ambitious leader, responsible for the ports infrastructure along the country’s entire coastline.“Tau has spearheaded South Africa’s quest to improve our port system for more than a decade, including establishing and entrenching TPT’s strategic role within Transnet as the division’s first Chief Executive,” the statement reads.
It goes on to say that Morwe led the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA) from 2011 to 2014, and says he strengthened relations among member ports while promoting regional cooperation and integration.
