Angola and Namibia to bridge gaps | Infrastructure news

Three bridges are to be built over the River Cubango in Angola, which makes up part of the larger Okavango River, in a construction initiative between Angola and Namibia.

Construction of the bridges is set to strengthen bilateral trade relations between the countries and facilitate the movement of people and goods between them.

To this end, a memorandum of understanding was recently signed in the city of Calai, in Cuando Cubango province, by the Foreign Minister of Angola, George Chicoti, and his Namibian counterpart Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

The Angolan cities of Cala, Dirico and Cuangar will thus be linked to Rundu, Nyangana and Nkurenkuru in the Okavango region of Namibia.

According to local reports, the bridge between Calai and Rundu will measure 300 metres long and stand 16 metres wide.
