Water disruption for JHB’s northern suburbs | Infrastructure news

Johannesburg Water (JW) will be performing infrastructure upgrades which are expected to affect water supply to the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg.

The city’s water and sanitation service provider issued a statement informing residents about a planned water disruption that will affect Parktown, Houghton,Melrose and surrounding areas, for a period of 48, hours from 7am on 21 April until the 23rd of April at 7am.

“There will still be water supplied into the system, but it might be at a reduced rate or no water supply experienced in some of the affected areas on both days,” says Eleanor Mavimbela spokesperson for JW.

Affected suburbs

The suburbs that will be affected by the water disruption include Waverly, Perceli, Highlands North, Fairmount, Talboton, Raedene Estate, Hawkons Estate, Oaklands, The Gardens, Cheltondale, Orchards, Maryvale, Victoria, Norwood, Orange Grove, Houghton Estates, Fellside, Rosebank, Melrose, Melrose Estate, Dunkeld, Parkwood, Parktown North, Saxonwold, Riviera, Houghton Estates.

JW’s upgrade and maintenance drive

Earlier this year JW undertook maintenance work at its Eikenhof Pump Station which affected large parts of the city including Roodepoort, Randburg, Soweto, Langlaagte and Southdale.
