Transport Ticketing Africa will be the first gathering of the public transport community in the region to explore the developments in smart ticketing and transport shaping the entire continent. Taking place 20-21 May 2015 at the Hyatt Regency, Johannesburg, the event is set to welcome over 100 delegates from over 15 countries.

Industry leaders and specialists will explore the developments in smart ticketing and transport that will shape Africa’s future in passenger travel.Some of Africa’s biggest names in transport will come together, beginning with a keynote address from the Ministry of Transport of South Africa. A panel discussion, chaired by Jean Constantini, Senior Business Advisor of Thales Transportation Systems will follow.

Discussing whether smart ticketing adoption should be compulsory or voluntary for transport are Edwins Mukabanah, Managing Director of Kenya Bus Management Services, Alain-Paul Ndjoubi Ossamy, Managing Director of the Gabonese Company of Transport and Peter Lewis, External Initiatives Manager of Transport for London.

Mr Constantini will then deliver his own presentation assessing which smart fare collection channel is best suited to your population: smart card, contactless, mobile ticketing or a combination. A cashless economy will then be explored in Kenya’s journey to making smart, seamless transport a reality – is a cashless system right for everyone?

The industry renowned event is set to cover every aspect of smart ticketing and fare collection from building the business case for smart ticketing – which ticketing route is best suited to your passengers’ needs?, to can we afford smart cards or can we afford to be without them?’, ‘Opening public transport for Anonymous passengers’, ‘Understanding the routes to mobile ticketing’ and ‘Integrating contactless bank card ticketing into your transit system’.
