ISO accreditation something to chew on | Infrastructure news

International food safety management system certification, ISO 22000, has been awarded to Imperial Cargo.

The certification indicates conformity to international food safety standards.

“The purpose of ISO 22000 is to provide a practical approach to minimising food safety risks, in order to protect consumers,” explains managing director Christo Theron. According to Theron, more than 50% of the company’s clients operate in the FMCG sector.

The certification is highly valued when it comes to the transportation of ambient stable food products and packaging materials. The company’s ISO journey included training with all stakeholders.

ISO accreditation signifies the ability of a company to control food safety risks, ensure efficient control at all stages of the food supply chain, prevent the introduction of food safety hazards and provide a safe delivery service.

It also provides a means of continual improvement for accredited organisations. “This ensures that our food safety management system is constantly reviewed and updated so that all activities related to food safety are optimised,” Theron concludes.
