The turn off at Turnpike on Lusaka’s 51 km Chirunda road has been completed, while rehabilitation work on the pavement, construction of a Jersey barrier and traffic circles, drainage structures, road markings and the erection of road signs continues.
The road project was undertaken in two sections, with the road divided with a median to remove right turns.A grassed medium of 3.5m will be incorporated from the Makeni turn off to the Lamasat shopping centre roundabout. Another barrier, 0.8m in length, is due to be constructed at the Chilanga Filling Station.
It is intended that the Lusaka Chirundu Road project will help ease the movement of goods and people on the road which forms part of the country’s T2.
