Parliament’s Peace and Security cluster of committees will from Tuesday conduct oversight visits to assess safeguarding of the country’s borders in KwaZulu-Natal.
The committee, which will focus on land, maritime and air borders, is expected to be in the province until Friday. A briefing is expected to be held at King Shaka International Airport on Tuesday.On Wednesday, the committee will break into two groups that will visit areas including the Durban Habour, Naval Station Durban, the Richards Bay Habour and Airport, Kosi Bay Port of Entry, iSimangaliso, Pongola and the Golela Port of Entry.
Parliamentary spokesperson Temba Gubula said the oversight cluster will include the portfolio committees on police, defence, military veterans, home affairs and international relations and the joint standing committee on intelligence. – News24 Source: News 24 wire
