The Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA) has announced that it is hosting an Accredited Waste Management Training programme to facilitate critical thinking towards waste management in South Africa. This training – taking place in Midrand – will provide an exciting opportunity to share critical thoughts relating to the latest trends in handling and disposing of waste.
The IWMSA Accredited Waste Management Training will be of great interest to all waste industry individuals and organisations. This session is a must for delegates to contribute to the development of effective waste management practices. Purpose of the course The purpose of this course is for delegates to perform effectively in the field of environmental science, environmental management and waste management. After the training attendees will be able to:- Identify, categorise, collect, handle and dispose of different types of waste;
- Use appropriate terminology to describe waste related issues;
- Understand the importance of correctly managing waste and how this relates to sustainable development, and
- Appreciate the range and nature of waste collection and transportation systems available within the industry.
- How waste interrelates with the environment, and
- The importance of working safely with due care for the environment and the health and well-being of yourself and others.
Candidates will receive the following:
- All training materials and portfolio documentation required by LGSETA;
- Training manual;
- Lunch on the training days, including non-alcoholic drinks;
- Certificate of Competency – once declared competent, subject to final verification, and
- Uploading of learner details on the National Learner Record Database (SAQA).
- Face-to-face training will take place on 30 November – 02 December 2015
- Summative Assessments will be done on the morning of 02 December 2015.
