In New York City, at the end of September 2015, representatives from around the world gathered to adopt a new global agenda for sustainable development.
South African tank manufacturer SBS Water Systems was there to witness these ambitious targets, referred to as the Sustainable Development Goals. This new agenda, which will supersede the UN’s Millennium Development Goals, aims to eradicate poverty and hunger, empower women, safeguard natural resources, combat climate change, and seeks to achieve human equality by 2030. Water, for the first time, ranks highly on the agenda with its own dedicated goal, which encompasses access to drinking water and sanitation. The agenda also calls for an improvement in water management and environmental protection.Finally this precious resource has gotten the attention it has always deserved. The world is waking up to the reality that failure to address water directly will severely affect global economies, security, and the efforts to improve the global standard of living.
