FESARTA partners with IRU on North/South corridor | Infrastructure news

The Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations (FESARTA), Transport Logistics Consultants (TLC) and the International Road Transport Union (IRU), have partnered to launch TRANSPark along the North/South corridor in Southern Africa.

Developed by IRU, TRANSPark is a free online application (app) that helps truck drivers find secure and comfortable parking areas. Drivers will now be able to plan their routes and rest stops in floodlit, guarded areas from Durban, South Africa to Tanzania, including in Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

An upcoming release will soon enable drivers to identify the locations of border posts, weighbridges and toll booths. It is also planned to include a GPS tracking capability to enable fleet operators and corridor management organisations locate trucks, monitor transport times and analyse delays at key checkpoints.

TRANSPark is available in Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The app can be downloaded, free, from iTunes and from Google Play
