Brenda Horne-Ferreira resigns as SASTaLC CEO | Infrastructure news

The Board of Directors at the Southern Africa Shippers Transport and Logistics Council (SASTaLC) have confirmed the resignation of CEO Brenda Horne-Ferreira from the Council, effective 1 March 2016.

Horne-Ferreira joined the Council in July 2014. She will remain close to SASTaLC, serving in an advisory capacity as a director of the board.

SASTaLC has decided not to replace Brenda, but to transfer the management, coordination and administration duties to secretariat Yayeri Kasaame. Kasaame has been mentored by Horne-Ferreira over the past 14 months as part of the council’s transformation strategy.

Kasaame holds a B.Com Honours in Logistics Management, a B.Com in Marketing Management and a Diploma in Business Commerce and Business Management. She has interned at a motor vehicle manufacturer in its logistics operations department and holds various roles in charitable organisations.

In an outgoing message Horne-Ferreira wrote: “My decision to pass on the baton was not an easy one, however, I believe from the bottom of my heart it is in the best interest of our council. In spite of the gruelling economic conditions, I do believe there is a role for our council and I urge industry to put their weight behind us in continued measures to ensure the council remains active and relevant.

“I count it as an honour and privilege to be requested by the board to continue to be a director of the board of SASTALC and express my greatest confidence in Yayo as my successor. I am very proud of her as I have seen her passionately grow and develop under my mentorship and know that she will continue the journey to roll out the SASTALC strategy and to meet member’s and industry expectations.”

SASTALC’s role is to drive public-private collaborative advocacy across all modes and with all role players within transport in Southern Africa.
