Tender time extended to give emerging contractors a chance | Infrastructure news

Diepsloot road works

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is extending the deadline for a minor works tender to allow for a fair and equal bidding opportunity for emerging contractors.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is extending the deadline for a minor works tender aimed at procuring services such as kerbing, road works and the maintenance of stormwater drains among others.

According to the municipality this decision was necessitated after the tender, advertised as SCM 16 – 35/S: TREINNIAL TENDER FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANCILLARY WORKS was initially scheduled to close Thursday, 4 February.

By last week Thursday  February 2016,  1 200 tender documents were purchased with large scores of people visiting the offices demanding more documents late in the afternoon resulting in the municipality running out.

To put this huge call into perspective on average 100 documents per tender would be sufficient to satisfy demand.

However the extraordinary plea for tender documentation a day before the closure now means that the closing date will be moved to Thursday, 18 February 2016.
