Another acquisition for logistics major | Infrastructure news

Barloworld Logistics (BL) has acquired 100% of multi-temperature secondary storage and distributor, KLL Distributors, further expanding its service offerings into multi-temperature food logistics.

KLL primarily serves the convenience sector as well as top-end retailers in South Africa.

“These [KLL and Aspen Logistics] acquisitions are in line with our strategy of servicing a growing market need for multi-temperature, multi-product, multi-principal and multi-drop network solutions,” says Steve Ford, CEO at Barloworld Logistics.

“KLL provides speed to market through frequent small drops, and an ability to integrate easily with national retailer’s ERP systems,” he motivates.

The company’s three managing partners, Gustaf Oschman, Lizette Brooks and Stephen Herbert will remain in the business, forming part of its management team, while BL’s Gavin Wilson will lead the division.

“The two deals will enable BL to scale for growth in this sector, leverage our capabilities and offer more holistic supply chain solutions to a broader customer base – thereby extracting greater value for the market,” adds Wilson.
