Africa has the lowest per capita energy use of any continent. Over 600 million Africans live without electricity. In 11 African countries, more than 90% of the population live without any power supply. In achieving this, all energy options are being considered and in the past few years, renewable energy sources have been the most prominent.

Ahead of the upcoming Africa Energy Forum, this CNBC Africa Special in partnership with Barclays Africa will look at what needs to be done to diversify Africa’s energy sector, from the challenges to the opportunities.
