On Friday 8th July 2016, the Titans Building Nations awards took place at the Midrand Conference Centre, Johannesburg. Siya Mhlaluka, Transnet Port Terminal’s GM of the Eastern Cape, was recognized amongst other prestigious business leaders, for his contribution in the Public Enterprises category.
Since 2000, these annual awards have acknowledged leaders who are positively making waves across the continent in 25 various sectors with the purpose of sustainable growth and on-going development of their nations. Mhlaluka has been the recipient and driving force behind a number of accolades received and achievements reached by Transnet Port Terminals’ Eastern Cape region. According to colleagues of Mhlaluka’s at TPT, he is an integral part of the management team at Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) and embodies the essence of what a great leader entails. Kevin Hustler, CEO of Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber, was one of the first to congratulate Mhlaluka on his award. “The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber wishes to sincerely congratulate Siya Mhlaluka on his prestigious Titans Award. We are extremely proud of his outstanding achievement, for which he is most deserving due to his ongoing contribution towards the industry and South African business as a whole,” Hustler said.The Titans Building Nations Awards are coordinated by Celebrating Excellence in Organisations (CEO) and the recognition process is a stringent one, with a four tier judging process and auditing done by KPMG to ensure that their processes are equitably applied to all participants.
The Johannesburg event saw the winners at country and regional level announced – with the regional winners automatically becoming finalists in the continental awards. According to the Chief Executive for CEO, Annelize Wepener, the judging panels commented on the exceptional standard of nominees saying, “this year was the best year with phenomenal leadership qualities. The leaders recognized today are special and unique.” After receiving his reward Siya Mhlaluka added, “I am humbled to have been honored with this prestigious award. I do believe that this award also belongs to my entire Eastern Cape and Transnet Port Terminals team who constantly demonstrate their commitment and dedication for excellence and upholding the very values of innovation and superior service delivery that as a business we strive for. “This is a milestone for the organization and I am honoured to extend my appreciation and recognition to all colleagues who played a role in what we have achieved as a team.” Siya in his role as GM of the Eastern Cape has demonstrated time and time again his commitment to this role within TPT to ensure that the Eastern Cape region contributes significantly to the strengthening of the economy and growth of business in the region.
