Eskom, CSIR to sign security agreement | Infrastructure news

illegal-electricityEskom and the CSIR have established a security sub-committee to identify and deal with security risks that are having a significant financial impact on Eskom’s business.

The two organisations recently signed a strategic partnership agreement and will sign the security agreement on Monday.

One of Eskom’s imperatives is to regain financial strength by addressing security concerns and revenue losses. The security sub-committee will look at security risk management solutions to prevent criminal activity and safeguard high value assets, such as conductor cables and related infrastructure, theft and vandalism detection and prevention, smart meter protection and the detection and prevention of illegal connections and revenue theft.

Eskom has identified specific security risks that are having a significant impact on its business, supply and infrastructure. The Eskom /CSIR security sub-committee will  identify and integrate the solutions to these issues into a collaborative programme that will ensure optimal utilisation of all the capabilities within not only the CSIR but across the National System of Innovation.
