Access to water is a human right, but it is estimated that two out of every three people will live in water-stressed areas by the year 2025.

In Africa alone, it is estimated that 25 of the 53 countries will experience severe water stress within the next 10 years. With global warming causing unpredictable weather patterns, water is said to become more precious than gold. From economic perspective water scarcity poses an immediate problem for agribusiness, fisheries and ecotourism.
