The Metolong Dam in Lesotho has been completed and officially handed over by by Chinese construction company Sinohydro, giving the water project the go-ahead after 5 years of construction.

The water supply program was funded by multiple partners including the governments of Lesotho and South Africa, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the World Bank. With the country currently experiencing drought, the dam aims to provide water to one-third of the country’s population.
