Tshwane Green Ride 2016

BEKA Schréder, local manufacturer of LED luminaires, is a proud sponsor of the Tshwane Green Ride 2016, hosted by the City of Tshwane.

On 29 October, the City of Tshwane will be hosting the annual Tshwane Green Ride, which is a cycling event with the purpose to mobilise communities to consider alternative transport, incite and promote cycling infrastructure while at the same time promoting healthy lifestyles through cycling. This cycling event is part of the Tshwane Green Outreach Programme, and falls within the 2016 National Transport Month.

The objective of the ride is to demonstrate that cycling is a mode of transport that can be used in any environment (namely that it should not be treated as an elite sport only) and to highlight the importance of appropriate infrastructure so that people from all walks of life may have the choice to cycle, whether it be for recreational purposes or a safe form of commuting.

The 30km Ride will start at 7am on Saturday, 29 October, at the Central Sports Grounds, adjacent to the HM Pitje Stadium, in Mamelodi West, and will be in the form of a leisurely family fun ride.

For the children, there will be a kids’ corner which will have a jumping castle, mini tennis and face-painting. For the seniors, there will be senior services available where pensioners can have essential health checks, such as diabetes and blood pressure. And for those who are not cycling, there will be aerobics sessions and a fun run.
