Fiat Chrysler Automobiles South Africa (FCASA) announced the appointment of its new CEO and MD, Robin van Rensburg.

Van Rensburg joined the company on 1 January 2017 and succeeds Marco Melani as CEO and MD.  The automaker said van Rensburg brings over 20 years of automotive expertise and experience with him, having worked with numerous premium automotive brands.

Van Rensburg said: “I am really excited to join the FCA Group and work with such exciting brands, especially during such an interesting product cycle.”

He added that 2017 is set to be monumental for the company’s brands as it has new product introductions including the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Abarth 124 Spider and 595, Fiat Tipo and the extension of the Fiat Professional Fullback range.

“I look forward to adding a South African touch to the proudly Italian and American brands,” he said.

Outgoing CEO and MD, Marco Melani returns to the company’s head office in Turin, Italy and will resume his current responsibility marketing for Africa.
