New board members appointed at JRA | Infrastructure news

Executive Mayor, Herman Mashaba and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Transport, Nonhlanhla Makhuba last week announced the appointment of several additional directors to the Johannesburg Road Agency’s board.

Sipho Tshabalala will continue to lead the board in his role as Chairperson and he will be joined by returning no-executive board members Thobile Magerman, Steven Thunzi and Albert Torres.

Newly appointed Non-Executive members include Xolisa Mnyani, Thabiso Kutumela, Albert Mokoena and Lloyd Mayedwa. In addition, two Executive Directors have been appointed, which include Goodwill Mbatha: Acting Managing Director and Mr Ron Stevenson: Acting Chief Financial Officer.

Commenting on Tshabalala’s reappointment the JRA says he is an entrepreneur with a passion for youth development and tourism.

“He is recognised for his contribution to the development of youth through arts, sports and culture in Africa and he is known locally for his vibrant and thriving restaurant, Vilakazi in Soweto.”

Among other roles, Tshabalala serves as the Chairperson of the Youth Charter for Sports (Africa), Chairperson of Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, South West Region and a committee member of the Johannesburg Tourism Stakeholder Committee.

“On behalf of the JRA Executive Management team, we welcome all Board members and look forward to serving under their leadership and strategic input in guiding JRA in fulfilling its mandate,” the JRA adds.
