A standby labour dispute at the Zandfontein Depot in Johannesburg is affecting service delivery in the Sandton area.
“Johannesburg Water is currently experiencing a standby labour dispute at Zandfontein Depot, as such it may have an impact on service delivery turnaround times after hours,” said Nico de Jager MMC: Environment and Infrastructure Services Department in a statement. According to De Jager contingency measures have been put in place to attend to queries after hours through private contractors while the matter is being attended to by the Employer and the Labour Unions. “Turnaround times will be impacted as the contractor’s teams don’t know the area very well and customers are urged not to let anyone into their properties or can verify with the Call Centre if there is a need,” he explained.“We are currently aware of the outages in the following areas Woodmead, Parkmore, Strathavon, River club Sunninghill and Bryanston and the JW teams are attending to bursts in the following areas Parkmore(burst), Sandown(burst) and Woodmead(burst).
“We urge communities to report suspicious activities around JW infrastructure as well as to report all burst pipes, leaking water meters, open hydrants and to,” he concluded.
