A few weeks ago Energy Minister Jeff Radebe released an updated Integrated Resource Plan – IRP – for public input for a period of 60 days. The plan in its current form sees a halt to nuclear power expansion plans until 2030 and will instead mainly expand renewables, gas, and hydropower.

The Nuclear Industry is concerned and will this week be gathering stakeholders to prepare a response as part of the public input afforded by government. To tell us what they hope to achieve this week we are joined by Knox Msebenzi the Managing Director: Nuclear Industry Association of South Africa- NIASA and Gaopalelwe Santswere, President: South African Young Nuclear Professionals Society.
